Being a lighting designer, I have the capability to aid an audience in feeling an emotion, but that is not where my job ends. My goal as a designer and an artist is to make an audience feel the emotion that a director conveys and have the technical aspects enhance the production, not distract from it.
I want every production to be a communal event where the audience is so engulfed in the story that they do not realize who they are sitting next to or what is going on in their personal lives. Rather, the production should distract the audience from their reality and they should feel that they have left a piece of themselves in the story, realistic or not.
Hello! Welcome to my Website!
My name is Tori Mays! I was born in Philadelphia, PA, but I currently reside in Columbus, OH. I am in the process of getting my M.F.A in Lighting Design at the University of Arizona. This past May, I graduated from Rockford University with a B.F.A in Theatre Technology/Design with an emphasis in Lighting Design. I have the most supportive family, especially my mother and sisters! I love working in the theatre, and I would not trade it for a desk job any day.
